E-85 sippin drunk Location: Warner Robins, GA | Yes, if you are not needing to pass smog/emissions tests where you are located, you can take the air pump, and related stuff off of your engine. You can also send out the various brackets, clamps, etc that are anodized, to be replated.. which would brighten up things a bit. Your fan and shroud could be glass beaded and left that way, or powdercoated (just making sure the ends of the fan blades themselves are left bare). Yes, to do the best job, pulling the engine would be a great option. You can into those hard to reach areas, as well as clean the entire engine compartment. I all reality, all it takes is time. How much are you willing to put into this endeavor? Here are a few pictures and a video of my engine. I have about 120 to 140 hours into hand polishing the entire (outside and inside) of my crankcase! Just Mother's Aluminum polish and about 500 red shop rags.LOL (oh, and a lot of sore hands and a few blisters) The intake manifold had the casting marks ground down and cleaned up. It was then sent out to get Extrudehoned. The process is only for the inside. Then once back, I sent it off to be ceramic coated (just like Jethot, etc) Its not hard, it just takes time.
